Marché Bacchus: Restaurant Review

Marche Bacchus: Restaurant Review. Marché Bacchus has been our go-to dining destination since the early 2010s, thanks to its exceptional wine selection and delectable cuisine. On May 16, 2024, we had the pleasure of attending the Bordeaux Rendezvous event at this esteemed establishment, an experience that solidified our love for the venue even further.

Marché Bacchus: A Gem with a Rich History

The story of Marche Bacchus begins in 2007 when Jeff and Rhonda Wyatt took over the charming French cafe from its previous owners, Gregoire and Agathe Verge, a couple from Burgundy, France. They loved going to this gem in their neighborhood and would escape here several times a week to browse the wine bins, dine on the beautiful lake and just relax in a European setting. They considered Marché Bacchus their second home.

The Opportunity

When they learned that the owners would be selling Marché Bacchus, they knew that they wanted to turn the passion they had for this special place into their life’s work. The goal has been to raise the bar and take this favorite place of both locals and tourists to the next level. Growing up in and around New Orleans, food and wine have always been an extremely important part of their lives. They have reached critical acclaim for both the food and wine programs, and execute a menu of quality and creativity like none other off the strip in Las Vegas.

Over the years, Marché Bacchus has become known for its delightful French cuisine, amazing wine selection, and scenic lakeside patio, where guests can enjoy a picturesque view while savoring dishes like escargot, French onion soup, Crispy Duck breast and other contemporary French dishes.

Wine Shop

You can purchase their reasonably priced wines in the lobby wine store and have it opened for only $10. Beats the corkage fees in most other restaurants and definitely saves the price of a bottle that is usually doubled on the strip. Jeff Wyatt has put together an amazing collection of fine wines from around the world.

New Chef

In more recent times, the restaurant has continued to evolve. In 2023, James Beard Award-winning chef Bradley Ogden took over the kitchen as culinary director, ensuring that Marché Bacchus remains a top-rated French dining destination in Las Vegas.

Bordeaux Rendezvous Event

The highlight of the evening was the Bordeaux Rendezvous event, a global wine showcase launched in the United States in 2017. We had the opportunity to taste 42 different Bordeaux wines, presented by owners and representatives from various Chateaus. I did my best to try as many as I could and enjoyed it tremendously.

Dining Experience:

We decided to stay for dinner at Marché Bacchus, and it did not disappoint. We enjoyed a delectable duck main course, which was preceded by the exquisite Napoléon appetizer and a classic Caesar salad. Our meal was perfectly paired with a delightful French Chablis, creating a harmonious balance between food and wine. While we were too full from the event to indulge in our usual cheese plate, escargot, and crab cake, the evening was truly a five-star experience.

The Bordeaux Rendezvous event at Marche Bacchus solidified the restaurant’s reputation as a premier destination for wine enthusiasts and food lovers alike, highlighting their commitment to bringing the finest wines and culinary experiences to their guests.

Marché Bacchus: Restaurant Review #1

This is our first restaurant review so I thought I’d start with my favorite “Go-to” restaurant. I like going to a place that has the three important things covered. Service-Food-Wine List. It doesn’t have to be a Michelin Restaurant either, just cover these three things and I’m good. There are restaurants that allow you to bring your own wine as well, so if the corkage fee is reasonable and the food and service is top notch they can score high too.
